Fantasy
Here you will find what is going on in Meleena’s world.
Meleena is the main character in my fantasy world centered in the town of Bug Flat. Bug flat sprawls at the foot of Sivrisinek Castle, nestled in a crook of the Otraph River.
Meleena is a brat. A thief by trade, she can be kind one moment, but has no qualms dispatching a rival the next. 23 years old, she has slept with half the men in town, but the thought of donning a dress makes her nauseous. She is more comfortable with armor and her trusty Elven sword.
There is something special about her. Though she has brown eyes, her pupils are silver. There is nobody else with eyes like that. She also has a secret that few people except her best friend, the half man half bug Chit Chit knows. She can read, write and speak any language (that she can physically pronounce). She has been able to do that since she was a baby. Though she did not comprehend all of the words, she automatically understood them as if they were her native tongue. Her aunt Leena warned her that her unusual talent could be dangerous and Meleena took that to heart.
I’ve introduced Meleena to the world in a short story called Don’t Mess With A Snorg. It was published in the anthology A World Of Their Own by Nightfall Publications in 2010. The cover is shown below:
It is available at Amazon at the following link: http://www.amazon.com/World-Their-Own-Multiple-Authors/dp/193405156X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1306296579&sr=8-1
In Don’t Mess With A Snorg, Meleena shows what a brat she really is when, as a young girl, she almost starts a war between Bug Flat and a local clan of half pig, half gorilla creatures called Snorgs. I wrote the story under the pseudonym Ray Brooks. However, after long discussions with fellow authors and friends including Morgan St. James, I’ve come to the conclusion that I should just use my real name on everything. For the upcoming novel and any future writings I will use my real name.
My first legacy published novel called Meleena’s Adventures – Treasure Of The Umbrunna follows Meleena as she goes after a valuable pearl in an underground city but has to decide whether to give it up to help someone else. It was published by New Link Press in November, 2015.
Meleena’s Adventures – Gods Of The Blue Mountains is done and at the publishers. I had a lot of fun with it.
I am currently working on the third book in the series, Meleena’s Adventures – Across The Endless Sea. More fun with Meleena!

Since I last updated this page, I’ve finished the first draft of Across The Endless Sea and have already started book four, Rumblings.
Things are moving along and I’m still going strong with Meleena and her adventures!
Fred, your website is very clean and well-organized. You’ve also packed it with good info.
I want to read Treasure of the Umbrunna when it comes out to find out how it ends! When in 2012 do you think they’ll publish it?
I just finally figured out how to publish an e-book on Amazon. I published my first novel, an Amazon eco-romance called Hard Amazon Rain. You wouldn’t be familiar with it since I never read it at the group. Later this summer I plan to publish Magicide there.

Carolyn,
Wow! What a change from Seattle! Hope you are getting settled in and loving it.
Meleena’s Adventures is due out at the end of the year. I should start the editing process later this summer. I’ll be leaking little stories into my blogs here and there as publication time draws near.
How is your first book doing?
I really liked Magicide. I loved the unique twist you had and know it will do well. It’ll be a bit tough to market it from down south, but not impossible. Best of luck with it.
Thank you so much for writing and I realy miss seeing you at the meetings.
Fred
